Somethings seams to be wrong, are there general tips?

Here a checklist:
  1. Make sure that the component in installed properly. Click here to view a video tutorial.
If the component doesn't appear inside the component panel, please read this article.
  2. When you see the component inside the component panel, the component in installed correctly.
  3. Have a closer look a the example fla came within the downloaded zip file. Make sure, that you understand the general setup of the component. If you are not to familiar with ActionScript, use the timeline example. The features are exactly the same as the ActionScript version, but much easier to use.
  4. Click here to view a video tutorial how to implement the component.
  5. Always make sure, that you give instance names to your Movieclips. Otherwise the component will not recognize them.
  6. Make sure, that your Target Movieclip (or Start Movieclip and End Movieclip) is in the same frame as the component.
  7. Set the right export flash version. For AS2 components Flash 8 or higher, for AS3 components Flash 9 or higher.

I want to apply more then 2 images to my transition, how to do that?

Click here to watch a video tutorial how to implement the component. According to that you can apply as much images as you want.

Also have a look at the example.fla example file came within the downloaded zip.

Will the effect work with my Flash version?

The AS2 versions of the effect work with Flash 8, Flash CS3 and Flash CS4. The AS3 versions work with Flash CS3 and Flash CS4.

I get an JavaScript Error, what is that?

If you get an error like this "The following Javascript error(s) occurred: SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list." the component is not installed properly. Click here to view a video tutorial how to install the component.

Also make sure, that you use the correct Adobe Extension Manager.

Flash CS3 and Flash 8: http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em18_download.html

If the component still doesn't appear inside the component panel, please read this article.

I get strange lines with the Mask Transition Effect, how to fix that?

Make sure that your swf is not scaled within your HTML. The size has to be exactly the size set in the Flash IDE. Also the size of the swf should be round numbers. So instead of 985.6px x 456.3px use 985px x 456px.
Both the component and the Target Movieclip must not be scaled. Both has to be 100% x 100%. Sometimes it helps to have the registration point of the Target Movieclip in the upper left corner instead of middle.

I want to load the images for the transition externally (from my server) instead from the library. Is that possible?

Sure, all of our effects work perfectly with dynamically loaded images (or swfs). You have to use the effect with ActionScript. Have a look at the ActionScript_Demo.fla file came within the downloaded zip (also in the trial version). Make sure, that you apply the effect (run the init Method) not before all images are loaded.

What happens when the transitions are finished?

Our transition filters have a set length ? this is the length you apply to the filter via the inspector or ActionScript.

After the effect is finished the component stays on the stage and the finishing image is showing (the 'end MovieClip'). If you want to remove the component insert a empty keyframe or remove it per ActioScript. Examples for this can be found in the example files, which come with all filters.

Are the filter working with Flex 2.0?

The behaviour of our filters with Flex is not tested and therefore we cannot guarantee any desired results and we cannot give any support on this.

We are however working on Flex support – please register for our newsletter to find out about latest updates as soon as possible.

I want to create a slide show, how can I do this?

The example files, which are included in the filters, contain an example how to build a slide show either on Timeline or with ActionScript.

We have not integrated any typical slide show component (xml connection, preloader, etc). The reason for that is that we want to keep the filters as simple to use as possible so everyone can easily integrate them in existing projects.

Since you can use all filters with ActionScript there are limitless possibilities to create any slide show containing the flash-filter.net effect.

What is an inspector?

To make is as easy as possible for time line users to set the parameters we have developed an innovative component inspector for all our filters.

To find the inspector click on the filter which you have just dragged on the stage. Then select "Window" and "component inspector".

This panel now gives you the possibility to set all parameters for the filter.

Where can I see, what version of the effect I have installed?

First you should check the Adobe Extension Manager. Here you can see both which effects are installed and activated. This applies also for Extension Manager 2.0 (CS4).

For the ability to change the effect version in a existing project (from trial to full version or from standard version to Banner Edition) the different version have to have the same name. At first look all version look same inside the component panel. However, if you rollover with the mouse on the icons the actual version is shown.

The Extension Manager ask me to overwrite a file, what should I do?

Some of the files copied on your system when installing the mxp file with the Extension Manager are "shared", which means that they are used by more than one filter.

Simply confirm the message to overwrite that file.

How do I get the settings from the demo inside my project?

The component inspector panel inside Flash does not include the presets of the online demo. To have this setting inside your project you need to copy the parameter below the demo canvas and insert them inside the component inspector panel.

Note: The parameter width and height you'll not find inside the components inspector, since the dimensions from the Target Movieclip are taken. Here a video tutorial how to implement the effects.

I can not install more than one filter on MAC, how to fix?

There is a known bug in the MAC version of the Macromedia Extention Manager. You can only install one filter. Simply restart the Extention Manager and install the next filter. We are in contact with Adobe to fix this issue.

I like the packaging for the effects, where can i get the box?

All filters are download-only products. We do not ship any boxes.
