Quick Start Guide

Note: To work with our effects you will have to have a basic understanding of Flash (8, CS3, CS4). No ActionScript is required.

1.
Download the effect component
Some of our effects are free and all commercial effects have free trial versions. On the effect pages you find all download links.

Don't miss the free effects!
Some of our effects are totally free to use. On the left hand side you can find some effects marked with "FREE" - those are available as AS2 and AS3 versions.

Trial restrictions
The trial versions of our effect components work with Flash (8, CS3 or CS4) but not inside the browser. Other than that the trial versions have the full functionality.

Sorry, no AS3 trials...
Currently we do not provide AS3 trial versions. If you want to check that our components generally work in your project please download the AS3 versions of our free effect components.

Where to download?
You find the download option on the individual effect pages -> "Free Trial Download" or "Free Download".

Install the effect component
Make sure that the effect component is installed properly:

Problems?
If the component doesn't show up in the component panel:

  • Remember: AS2 components only work in AS2 .fla files AS3 component only work in AS3 .fla files.
  • If you have a non-English version of Flash please read this article to make sure the components show up in the component panel.

Use the effect and play around with it!

Video Tutorial
First you should check out this video tutorial to get a general understanding of how to use our effect components.

Example files
Open the timeline_example.fla files that were included in the provided .zip file. If you are a ActionScript developer you should also have an eye one the actionscript_example.fla to be found in the folder "advanced". Note: Using the effect components with ActionScript does NOT have any positive impact regarding performance or file size. Always use the effect components on timeline (like shown here) if you not to familiar with ActionScript.

Try online
You can also play with the effects online. Click on "Online Demo" on the individual effect pages.
